Full and partial rewires for Victorian, Edwardian and post-war properties across Clapham. Minimal disruption, fully certificated work.
Many properties in Clapham still have original wiring that is 30, 40 or even 60 years old. Older wiring — particularly rubber-insulated cables — becomes brittle and dangerous over time. A rewire is the safest way to bring an old property up to current standards.
We carry out full rewires on all property types — Victorian terraces, Edwardian conversions, 1930s semis and modern flats. Every circuit is run in new cable and connected to a new consumer unit.
If only part of your installation is in poor condition, a partial rewire — targeting the most at-risk circuits — can be a cost-effective solution. We'll advise honestly on what needs replacing.
Planning a kitchen, bathroom or full renovation? Integrating the rewire with building work minimises disruption and cost. We can work alongside your builder or manage the whole project.
For renovation projects, we carry out first-fix (cables and back boxes) during the build phase and second-fix (fittings, consumer unit and testing) once plastering is complete.
We use flexible wiring routes to minimise the number of channels cut into walls and ceilings. Where chasing is required, we leave clean cuts and can recommend plasterers for the reinstatement.
All rewire work is tested, inspected and certified in accordance with BS 7671. We notify the local authority under Part P and provide the Electrical Installation Certificate on completion.
Rewiring costs vary significantly based on property size, the number of circuits and access. As a guide, a 2-bedroom flat typically costs £2,500–£4,000; a 3-bedroom house £3,500–£5,500. We provide detailed fixed-price quotes.
A 2-bedroom flat typically takes 3–5 days. A 3-4 bedroom house may take 5–8 days. This includes first-fix, second-fix and testing. We'll give you a programme at quote stage.
We recommend it for full rewires, as the property will be without power for most of the work period. For partial rewires we can often maintain power to parts of the property.
Signs include rubber or fabric-covered cables (pre-1960s wiring), round-pin sockets, a fuse board with ceramic fuses, repeated tripping, flickering lights and burning smells. An EICR will confirm whether a rewire is needed.
